The Salt Lick BBQ is located in Driftwood TX, just a short 30 minute drive from Austin. We usually try to line up dining here on the way home from visiting Wimberly’s watering holes on a motorcycle outing. The restaurant is on a large piece of property and has a rustic ranch-like feel to it. We love that it’s BYOB which makes it a great spot to bring a crew or visitors as they get to check out Austin’s hill country and some of the great Texas vibe.
A little research shows the Salt lick has been featured several times on TV and has been recommended by Bobby Flay for their Beef Ribs, and Duff Goldman for their BBQ Plate. There's ample indoor and outdoor seating and a giant BBQ pit in the middle of the indoor seating adding a smoky flavor to the ambiance. The only downside is on weekends there can be a wait. But unlike Franklin's where you have to wait in line for hours twiddling your thumbs or playing on your phone, the Salt Lick has plenty of seating while you wait and you can bring a cooler full of beer to help you work up an appetite. It is the quintessential family style restaurant where people go for a great time and great food.

The Salt Lick is known for a family style dining where customers pay one price for all you can eat helpings of BBQ. There's also a variety of plates, sandwiches, and sides that some guests prefer. The desserts are huge and out of this world delicious.
Family Style - $31.95 per person
Heaping helpings of beef, sausage , and pork ribs, served with potato salad, cole slaw, beans, bread, pickles, and onions.
Kids 11 & under - $10.95 per kid
This is the kid price when accompanied by an adult ordering off the regular menu. Kids 3 & under eat for free.
