There are so many options when it comes to a fun night out in The Domain’s Rock Rose Entertainment District. For me, a bar has to have a few things to become one of my favorites: Delicious drinks, great outdoor seating with a view, some mouth watering snacks, and friendly vibes. Going by that checklist, my new favorite spot is The Dogwood (named after the owner’s grandmother’s favorite tree). It’s all good times, great drinks, and fun spread across two floors, y’all!
Walking in, you instantly feel like you’re walking into your best friend’s house back home. On the ground floor, natural wood, stone, and a few rad neon signs lead you to the open air patios. Before heading outside, make sure you grab a frosty Deep Eddy Sweet Tea Vodka poured straight from the tap behind the bar (very important to stay hydrated, my friends!).
Once you've selected your drink from an array of hand crafted cocktails, I’d recommend you head upstairs to the rooftop patio! There you can gather with your friends (or go make some new ones) while you take in all the sights and people watching that Rock Rose Avenue has to offer. Speaking of friends, you and your crew can take in all the game day excitement at The Dogwood. There’s so many TVs that you can watch your team play to win from just about any spot around the bar, not to mention the state of the art sound system so you won’t miss a minute of commentary. While there’s always the weekday Happy Hour from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm, The Dogwood also has some sweet Game Day specials on food and drink! If you and your team prefer a more VIP experience, the patio areas or rooftop can be rented out making you truly feel like a home town rock star!
That Southern Cuisine Though!
All this talk of game day and patios will definitely work up an appetite. Lucky for all of us, The Dogwood answers the call with some mouth watering options! There are some delicious shareable snacks available like their Jalapeno Mac & Cheese, Sweet Tea Marinated Wings, or Chicken & Waffle Sliders, but let me turn you on to the Dogwood Burger. It comes topped with a fried green tomato, bacon, and white queso. Yes, friends, my mind is also blown by that combination of basically everything I love on one burger.
If you've had a little too much fun the night before, you can always roll back around to The Dogwood in the morning (or early afternoon, no judgment here!) for their full breakfast and brunch menu. Definitely consider sharing a Motherload of Fries (house fries topped with scrambled eggs, bacon, Munster cheese, and queso) or some breakfast tacos with your friends, but when it comes to the Texas Sized Mimosa, just go ahead and order that all for you!
