Whether you are visiting Austin or living nearby, this bar should be at the top on your list of places to check out. P6 is nestled in the 6th floor of The LINE Hotel and overlooks a stunning view of the Congress bat bridge and Lady Bird Lake. You will be blown away by the view, as well as the delicious food and drinks. Chef Alonso Luna crafts a seasonal and superior menu where every dish stands out.
Getting here feels like finding a speakeasy; show up to The LINE lobby, find the neon pink hallway, take the elevator to the 6th floor, and walk out into picture perfect P6. It is a good idea to make reservations beforehand because they fill tables fast and often have private events. Located in the heart of downtown, right above the Congress bridge, greenbelt, and our town’s lovely lake. Head here to avoid the crowds down below, this might be the best bat viewing balcony in Austin. Watch the sunset over the trees and stay to see the trail of furry flighted friends darting out from under the bridge.
Don’t underestimate the menu at P6. They not only have incredible drinks and cocktails, they also have equally superb food. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality and caliber of everything they had to offer, especially the gourmet grub. Their menu is succinct but packed with satisfying plates and sips. Dine here for small snacks or full meals, everything is filling and fresh. It’s not often you find Beef TarTar on a bar menu, eating this with their house made bread crisps was a top tier treat. You really can’t go wrong with a charcuterie board on a beautiful balcony! P6 plates up some scrumptious slices of cheese and meat along with house made crackers, jam, and pickles. Our favorite of the night was the saucy Patatas Bravas bowl, an elevated take on the classic Spanish dish. Don’t pass up one of Chef Luna’s best bites, our waiter made sure to recommend the Charred Cabbage. Combine this with their roast chicken and you could easily enjoy one of the best meals you’ve had in town.
P6 can certainly shake up any drink you request but you would be amiss to skip on their specialty cocktails. We started out with the refreshing and sweet Coconut Clover, which comes with a dollop of whipped coconut cream on top. We had their take on an old fashioned and a martini, both were made perfectly. If you are looking for a drink that is flavorful and sweet but not too sweet, we loved the bourbon based Hill Country Gold. Perk up and keep the night going with a classic carajillo or espresso martini. Order what suits you and then sit back and enjoy the city.
What used to be a parking garage is now a paradise. They have converted this space into something remarkable and worth returning to. Huge thanks to the team here for creating a memorable experience far above the average happy hour.
