The Domain asked for the perfect sports bar in 2016 and Lavaca Street Bar Rock Rose said “Hold my beer!”. This spot has friendly bartenders, an array of beers on tap, and enough screens to watch all the sports you want (there are over 40 flat screens as well as a 16 foot video wall!). Throw in some amazing food and you’ll feel like a kid in a candy store on game day! No matter what day your favorite team plays, this bar offers weekday Happy Hour Specials from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm, as well as Game Day Specials.
If you’re not much for the oat sodas, they have plenty of specialty cocktails for you to imbibe. My personal favorites are the Strawberry Limeade Margarita and the Coconut Mule (Coconut rum, peach liqueur, lime, and ginger beer, of course, served in a copper mug!). While I’m not much of a sportsball person, I do love an opportunity to sit back with a drink (or two, or three…) and people watch from a great outdoor patio. Lucky for me, Lavaca Street Bar has an excellent outdoor space with plenty of seating that offers some amazing views of the Rock Rose Entertainment District.
Now that you’ve considered your drink order, let’s talk about the food! A rather recent edition to Lavaca Street Bar Rock Rose is Fly Rite. What goes better with a wide array of canned and bottled beers than a great fried chicken sandwich?!? Fly Rite is an Austin favorite that offers grilled and fried chicken sandwiches, wraps, and sandwiches. They also offer vegan alternatives so there’s a perfect sandwich and beverage for everyone!
As if that wasn’t enough to delight the senses, there’s also selections from another Austin cult classic, Easy Tiger. Known all throughout the 512 for their amazing bakery selections and mouth watering sandwiches. Along with a variety of pretzels, dips, and sandwiches, you can also order up one of their create your own Charcuterie Boards. Choose from a curated selection of meats, cheeses, deviled eggs, and pickled vegetables and enjoy your adult lunchable while you watch your favorite team play. If a sandwich is more your speed, make sure you order one of my favorites: The Easy Italian (capicola, salami, smoked ham, and olive spread) or the Stuffed Pretzel with roasted red peppers, potato, and gruyere cheese. Make sure you get some waffle fries to go with the sandwich and DON’T pass up on the garlic aioli for dipping (you can thank me later!).
