Everyone knows West Campus is a popular and bustling area of Austin. But among hype of University of Texas happenings and the hustle of high rise after high rise being built, sits the Hotel Ella. The original Greek Revival mansion on the property dates back to 1898 when it was built as a wedding present by the father of Ella Newsome for her and husband Goodall Wooten.
Not only is this an absolutely breathtaking hotel, full of history at every turn, but the hospitality and staff at Hotel Ella are second to none!
Rooms & Suites
Once you’ve checked in, be prepared to be in awe of your room at Hotel Ella. The rooms are divided between two buildings on the hotel’s campus: the original 1898 Mansion and The North Wing constructed in the 1980s.
The Mansion hosts 9 top tier rooms, the hotel’s lobby, Goodall’s restaurant, and the Parlor Bar & Coffee. The suites of this hotel are categorically unrivaled in luxury. The Mansion Petite Suite has king sized beds and French Doors that open to a shared balcony. If you’re looking to stay in a truly special room, book Ella’s Parlor Suite. This used to be Ella Wooten’s dressing room and comes with all the perks as well as a view of the pool.
If you’re looking to be in a more secluded and modern area of Hotel Ella, you’ll want one of the 38 rooms in the North Wing. This area was built in the 1980s and houses 5 different room types (we’re looking forward to booking one of their Poolside Kings!). Each family friendly room comes with a 47” TV, locally curated minibar, gym & pool access, and spa quality toiletries in the bathrooms.
Food, Fun, and Events!
If you think the Hotel Ella sounds like the best place to hang your hat while you’re staying in Austin, wait until you hear about the food and drinks!
Goodall’s, found in the original mansion, serves American & Southern cuisine giving center stage to farm-to-table produce & meat. The brunch at Goodall’s is served daily from 7:00 am to 2:00 pm with dinner service every day from 5:00 pm to 8:30 served in the Parlor Bar. You can also order up poolside drinks and snacks from Goodall’s without ever stopping your lounge session.
Every day should start with good coffee and pastries (at least that's the case for the guests at Hotel Ella!). The Parlor Bar & Coffee you can begin your day with excellent coffee and pastries provided by Dõ Bakery.
The fun for Hotel Ella isn’t just limited to the inside though. Guests and locals can enjoy free live music on Wednesday nights during their weekly event Music On The Lawn. When you’re ready to slow down and chill for a bit, stop by the pool at Hotel Ella and feel your worries melt away! Locals can reserve a pool pass from Hotel Ella to cool off in the summer and enjoy some snacks from Goodall’s.
